This authentic antique charge card token dates to the 1800s, when upscale stores issued numbered tokens to identify a customer’s charge account, an early predecessor to the credit card.
I paired it with golden rutilated quartz, individually hand-linked on sterling silver to complement the warm, aged tones of the token, and finished the necklace with a diamond clasp for an unexpected touch of luxury.
The mix of antique and modern, rough and refined, makes this a piece you simply won’t see everywhere.
I was lucky enough to find just a few of these antique charge tokens, and of course each one is just slightly different, with a different number, making every necklace its own one-of-a-kind design.
